Braided River Farm is home to over a dozen different rare and heritage breeds of chickens and ducks. Our poultry live free-range lives with daily access to open air and land where they scavenge insects and worms. Their diets are supplemented by our excess vegetables and organic feed.

Chicken Eggs — $5 a dozen.

Small Chicken Eggs—$3 a dozen.

We also offer chickens (frozen) whole or in parts. These are available Saturdays from 8:00am-Noon at the Highland Park Farmer’s Market in Hastings. Email us for Thursday morning delivery to Hastings/Grand Island areas.

Whole Heritage-type chicken (~2-4 lbs.) — $5.50 per pound

Very flavorful, our heritage and heritage-type chickens have a firm texture. Best cooked “low and slow”, they make excellent soups and broths as well as crock pot or pressure cooker dishes.

Whole Broiler chicken (~4-5 lbs.) — $5.50 per pound

Tender and flavorful, our broilers are versatile in the kitchen—suitable for many methods of cooking. The following pieces come from our broilers.

Bone-in Breast — (2/package) $8 per pound

Wings — (2 lbs. package) $5 per pound

Thighs — (2/package) $7 per pound

Legs — (4/package) $5 per pound

Necks and Backs — $2 per pound
